Patterns

I've been interested in joining an activity called 'Creative Tuesdays' for a while now.  Life being what it is - busy - seems to have prevented me until now, or perhaps I needed my skills to develop a bit before being so bold, because you know, the work being done there is amazing.

The assignment this time is patterns.  I had a little trouble navigating around in the site to find the actual instructions.  I did find the assignment but still haven't figured out the sign up or entry.  So I will do this possibly as a practice.  Unless I do find the correct buttons to participate.  Then I will participate.
Here is the piece I painted.  This is inspired by some pictures I took in the herb center of my deck and garden.  There are a number of zinnia's which my daughter planted and some sage.  The white flowers are inspired by the many Queen Anne's lace around.

I placed it into the computer program and came up with this amazing pattern.
I am so pleased with the outcome I just want to make more of them.
Here is a picture of the main inspiration:

My First Strathmore Watercolor Journal

This is my first 400 Series watercolor journal by Strathmore.  I had heard negative reviews about it and was hesitant to start using it.  As well, it was quite expensive for me and I didn't want to ruin it.  But when I came to the end of my previous journal I decided to start using this one.  I'm going to share the contents of it right here.  I am over half way through it by now so I'll be adding content to this post as I go.  Anyway I rather like this journal and would definitely buy it again.

I hope you enjoy not only the artwork but also the progress.
October 1st has a homemade cookie listed for the art prompt with Doodlewash at World Watercolor Group.  Unfortunately it took two days to complete as I have so very much going on.

Sept 30th, 2016  Two different paints.  The top one is done with Simply Art by Loew-Cornell and is from Joan Fabrics.  The second one is painted with my Sennelier paints.  It took several days to complete, painting a little here and a little there.  Adding paint and shadows and inking.  I am following an art class that I am taking at blue chair diary illustration with Alexandra MacVean.
